I joined The University of Alabama Athletics Digital Marketing Team in August of 2019. My role is to assist in capturing and creating engaging social content for Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram while representing the 15 sports on campus. By day, I'm scheduling and organizing daily content for the UA Athletics channels, and by night I'm covering our sporting events! As an intern, I also focus on enhancing student engagement strategies and developing our student section accounts.

@UA_Athletics goes above and beyond showing game play or score updates - as a team we strive to capture "moments" that show what it's like to be an Alabama fan. This includes recording crowd reactions to touchdowns, getting the buzzer beater on camera, shooting from the student section, and other opportunities to capture the environment at games. With sports moving so quickly, I learned how to create content with purpose and strategize how to distribute it on the fly.

I took this opportunity to use my creativity in conveying the Alabama gameday experience.  During the men's basketball season, I focused on Instagram stories, in efforts to recreate the experience for our fans (or as I call it, making the "FOMO effect"). I designed filters to use on our stories for big games and themed events, which provided a fun look and resulted in increased impressions and higher completion rates. I also explored using video effects and IG tools to make our stories different than anything our followers had seen.

During my time with UA Athletics, I have fallen in love with digital marketing and social media, and found passion in the community of it at all. Basking in the pride, enthusiasm, and camaraderie of the Alabama fan base as a student has never been short of incredible - but the opportunity to share it with millions of others in the digital space was the experience of a lifetime.
